Ruben Espinosa is Associate Professor of English at the University of Texas at El Paso, where he specializes in Shakespeare and early modern literature. He is the author of Masculinity and Marian Efficacy in Shakespeare’s England (2011) and co-editor of Shakespeare and Immigration (2014), a collection of essays exploring the role of immigrants, exiles, and refugees in Shakespeare’s England and work. He has published essays in Shakespeare Quarterly, Explorations in Renaissance Culture, and Literature Compass. In 2018, he was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Shakespeare Association of America. He is currently at work on his next monograph, Shakespeare on the Border: Language, Legitimacy and La Frontera, which examines the intersections of Shakespeare and Latinx culture and identity.
Special Session
Vanessa I. Corredera is an Associate Professor of English at Andrews University. She is currently working on a monograph exploring the racial narratives and modes of representation highlighted and obscured in adaptations of Shakespeare’s Othello created in supposed “post-racial America” (2008-2016). Her publications include essays in the journals Shakespeare Quarterly, Literature/Film Quarterly, and EMLS, as well as in the collection Shakespeare and the Power of the Face. Forthcoming publications will appear in The Journal of American Studies, The Routledge Handbook to Shakespeare and Global Appropriation, and The Arden Research Handbook to Shakespeare and Adaptation.
